Since upgrading to iOS 13 I've noticed that every time I type my name (primarily in Messages and Mail apps) auto-correct insists on fully capitalizing my name (James > JAMES) whereas before it would only capitalize the first letter. I don't know why it has suddenly started doing this and can't find any way to 'reset' the auto-correct dictionary. Turning off auto-correction in Keyboard settings doesn't make any difference to this behaviour. Any advice on how to fix this annoying feature?

I’ve turned off Auto-Correction in Settings > General > Keyboard. The capitalized suggestion JAMES still appears, but the phone doesn’t automatically replace it.

I've noticed that autocorrect will take "hints" on some words from non obvious places, like contacts, and specifically from nicknames or aliases. Maybe you have JAMES on all caps somewhere on your contacts? Commented Jul 20, 2021 at 23:58
Go to Settings / General / Keyboard / Text Replacement and delete the entry that is causing the issue, in your particular case that would mean delete the entry labeled “James”. My iPhone was doing the same thing except in my case every time I tried to type my last name “Morgan” it would auto-correct it to “MORGAN”. When I navigated to the Text Replacement setting mentioned above I was surprised to see my last name as one of the entries. It was listed as “Morgan MORGAN”. Simply swipe left on the entry and a “DELETE” button appears. Click on the DELETE button and your problem should be solved. Sorry for the super long explanation but a moderator said my simple explanation did not go far enough.
