Ever since I updated my MacBook Airhave been experiencing multiple issues since upgrading to Big Sur, everything's broken! My zsh terminal takes upto 30s to open and all optimizations are useless (never happened before). All my Firefox tabs crash when I wake it from sleep and I have to restart the browser!!
- My zsh terminal takes upto 30s to open (never happened before)
- My Firefox tabs crash when I wake it from sleep
- Spotlight search is broken (can't search for Apps, docs,...)
But the biggest issue I have is that my Spotlight search is broken!! I can't even look for apps in the Spotlight bar much less documents or anything else! I tried to re-index itindexing from the Preferences (add whole drive to Spotlight privacy, remove it again), it takes at least 15 minutes for the indexing to finish before I can use Spotlight. I also re-indexed it from the terminal using:
sudo mdutil -E /
and
sudo mdutil -i on /
Both these options bring Spotlight back to life temporarilytemporarily. AsHowever, as soon as I restart my machine, I have to do this all over again!
Does anyone have any ideaknow why this is happening and how I can solveto fix it? This never happened before, at least not persistently. I'm heavily reliant on my Spotlight search and this is driving me insane. Updating to Big Sur was the worst (computer related) decision of my life!!
