This is a real pain for me too. MBP 2021/Ventura - just migrated from Monterey where it did not happen. github, Notion, even google, have become considerably harder to use without home/end.
@BorekBernard it is possible to have the editor different to the quicklook thumbnailer. This question is about the thumbnailer, the linked question is about the editor. The "UPDATE & solution" implies these are the same thing, which is incorrect. Hence we need to re-open this qn.
This qn is closed but is actually asking a different thing to the linked qn. This qn is about changing the app for QuickLook (hitting spacebar in Finder), the linked qn is about changing the default opening app (double clicking in Finder). Please re-open.
@HaraldHanche-Olsen actually not that weird. OSX expects background processes to run for at least 10s, and so polls the KeepAlive once every 10s. The "sleep 5" here actually does not increase frequency of anything, just adds delay. HOWEVER, if you put the "hit G" code before AND after the "sleep 5" then you will achieve OP's aim.
The question asks how to toggle Finder from "Search this Mac" mode to regular folder browsing mode. The shortcut to launch Finder is working for them, it's just that Finder is not launching in the desired mode.
@ckpepper02 RIGHT? I mean so frustrating and pointless 99% of the time since PgUp and PgDown get you to the same point for all but the longest of docs. Grrr!
@user3439894 Tested by dragging QuickTime in and out of Spotlight/Privacy on my late2012MBP13/Yosemite it was instant and I didn't even have to close System Preferences. On my 2016MBP15/Sierra it took a few minutes. Not sure how helpful the "may have been true" comment is -- every personal experience one reads about on the internet needs to be taken with a pinch of salt, unless they're by myself, in which case they are, of course, infallible.
