I am resigned to moving the keybind to Fn-x, but just in case there's an easy way to disable it, I thought I'd ask.

Eminent domain! Eat the rich!

How to create a keybinding using the [fn] key as a modifier?

Not what I want.

  • How did you resolve this? I use ctrl + a a lot for gnu screen, and the fn + a gets on the way very often. I ended up disabling the fn key altogether, but I wish I could just disable the fn + a shortcut only Commented Apr 16 at 18:39
  • If I recall correctly, macos allows disabling it from the settings menu.

  • Thank you @cyberthal, unfortunately there doesn't seem to be an option to only disable the fn + a shortcut; the shortcut is also undocumented (the only info about it is scattered around in different forums) Commented Apr 18 at 22:54

You're right. I used BetterTouchTool to set an application-specific behavior for Fn-a, which overrides MacOS default behavior in that case. I couldn't get it to send Fn-a, I don't think, so I send an equivalent keybind instead.
