Ultimate. But it doesn't really matter. Installing Windows 7 Any version will do, but Windows 8 Pro is required to do VHD boot

You should try installing Windows 7 first. If windows 8 installation said you have the max partitions, install windows 8 on a VHD. techmell.net/how-to/install-windows-8-vhd-virtual-hard-disk

Make sure you make those partitions before installation so Windows 8 cannot make others. It will be forced to use 1 partition only.
