Hi @malhal, yes the implementations are different but the mechanisms to be notified of and handle conflicts do exist in iOS. NSFilePresenter for notification, and NSFileVersion for conflict status and versions.
Apps are able to detect an iCloud file is out of date and request an updated copy. However the delay of notification of changes and the delay of an updated copy appearing are outside the control of the developer. So with good connectivity, notifications and updates can occur quite quickly (a couple of seconds in my experience).
Another option is using VMWare, Parallels or VirtualBox and loading up the last version of OS X that runs your drivers. Not recommended unless you already use virtualisation software.
I should also note that regular expression matching isn't available for PDF files. You only get simple string matching (case sensitivity is an option).
I'm using ICU regular expressions as it is native to iOS. Apparently very similar to PCRE. I'm somewhat reluctant to include 3rd party libraries without good reason.
This isn’t quite true. You can remove saved passwords, but the app developer is free to store whatever he/she wants in the keychain associated with the app or an app group. There is no general facility to view/edit on iOS like Keychain Access on MacOS.
I mean you share whatever files are imported into GoodReader. You can import photos into GoodReader (directly on the device). Yes you will need to use the web browser on the PC. If you want to do it at the file layer you will need a SMB server on the iOS device. However you will not have SMB browse access directly to the photos library. That isn't available as far as I know - at least not on a non jailbroken iOS device.
