Jun 23, 2020 at 6:45 comment added Max Oriola It worked in a MacBook Pro 13" Late 2011 (I know, pretty old for 2020), High Sierra 10.13.6, while working without battery (I mean battery physically removed while waiting for the new one). It didn't recognize the jack plugged unless it was aleready plugged on start up... or this procedure was followed. Thanks.

Feb 26, 2020 at 9:10 comment added LOAS Eight years later, same issue on a 2018 mbp. These steps fixed it in the first attempt. Wtf, apple.
May 1, 2019 at 22:18 comment added kblmfld Nope. It is happening repeatedly. Very disappointed with Apple about this. Going to adjust the power settings to prevent it from sleeping as a workaround since this is a work machine. Also going to consider an alternative personal workstation as a future replacement (System76?).
May 1, 2019 at 22:07 comment added kblmfld I just started experiencing this on a 2018 MacBook Pro running OSX Mojave. I put the machine to sleep, plugged in headphones, woke up - it worked. First attempt to repro looks promising. Hoping this doesn't become a regular thing.

Jun 9, 2014 at 17:34 comment added Brandon DuRette I definitely feel your pain. My hypothesis is that the save/restore from sleep mode gets the sound driver in a weird state and the steps above unwind it. If I'm right, a permanent fix requires someone at Apple to fix the code. If I'm wrong, then there may be a permanent fix. If you find one, please post it.
Jun 9, 2014 at 10:16 comment added ecdeveloper Can you explain why that may happen, and how the issue can be fixed permanently please?
