I have a Western Digital HDD 2 TB external hard disk. I had not used it for a while.

It seems the drive has been corrupted and turned a bit raw. I believe this to be the case because the hard drive is slow to respond; some folders do not even open properly. Even some of those that open, when I scroll down, get stuck loading.

I have been trying to get as much data as I can from there, but it is an impossible task as it will only partially do so. Right now, I am using data recovery software and have kept it running for two days straight but it has only completed 1% of all sectors (38283658 / 3817925236) so far.

Could you please tell me solutions to recover the data on this disk more efficiently and faster? Also how to increase write and read speed of my M2 macbook pro using.?
