I'm getting error -1426 when trying to transfer files from iPhone via iTunes File Sharing. I'm on iOS 12.4 and macOS 10.14.6. iPhone is XS Max 256GB and Mac is MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2015) 16GB RAM, 256GB SSD (APFS Encrypted).

It's a 1.8GB audio file. I have 22GB free space on the Mac.

Console shows this error when it happens:

error 17:38:08.029393 -0700 iTunes AFC OpenFile failed (0xE8004001) for "<private>" for mode 1 with connection 0x7ff3b4156e00

I booted into Recovery partition, mounted the main volume, ran Disk Utility First Aid, but it said it could not unmount the partition (since these geniuses now put Recoveryutility gives no errors on the same partition as the main drive—since they are so proud of APFS volume containers, they just use one partition with multiple volumes in containers). So I held down “Option” key while pressing “Run” after clicking First Aid (option forces it to run), and it did run, but now it gives the error:

Checking the fsroot tree:
error: btn: invalid btn_tree.bt_key_count
fsroot tree is invalid
The volume /dev/rdisk1s1 could not be verified completely.

It also gives this error when scanning the boot drive while booted to it. Running First Aid multiple times, the error is always the same.

So... how do I fix this, considering the Recovery partition is useless due to not being its own actual partition, thanks to idiots at Apple obsessed with their proprietary file system?
