Thank you for this tip. TwoHere's two extra nuggets of knowledge that may be of assistance:

1 - the smartmontools package is also available under MacPorts. If you have MacPorts installed, "sudo port install smartmontools" will do the trick

2 - the "df" command line tool will quickly give you an idea of what is mounted where.
