Refined user interface: reworked icons, menus, Notification Center, and Widgets; a Control Center like the one found in iOS was added and Apple has refined the system sounds, too.
Messages & Maps: Apple used Mac Catalyst to convert the iOS version of Messages and Maps to a version that runs on the Mac.
Safari 14: The Big Sur Safari has a new design and some build in feature like customizable start page, web page translation, new extension store, and Privacy Report that shows trackers on websites. Apple claims that the enhanced Safari is also 50% faster than Chrome and Firefox.
