Sometimes the sound quality (for example music sound) of my MacBook Pro M1 16" becomes very bad. And only one solution for me is to start Zoom, wait when it will load and quit Zoom. After that the sound becomes normal again.

My OS: MacOs Ventura Version 13.2.1

Can it be fixed somehow?

  • Sound quality in general, or are you using Bluetooth?

  • Define 'bad'. Crackly? Low volume? Distorted? What else have you tried? Switching to built-in speakers and back?

  • Did you solve this issue? Because I'm facing the same symptom, but for me, it appear in my external usb phone in specific usb ports. Actually, it started in one of them, and now, two of three ports are presenting this issue. Commented May 31 at 16:11

I am producing Music and when I got my macbook pro i9 16'' in 2019, I connected some USB hubs and the audio interface to these USB hubs. I also had a crackling noise in my sound output, but guilty was not a driver, nor the usb hub, nor the cable to the external audio card, but where I charged the laptop. Somehow the Charging Load influenced by unknown ways the audio output.

I still can't explain it in detail, but what helped was to separate the charging cable from any other devices, like connect charging cable on the left side and have the audio interface on the right. Also I bought a USB-C to USB-B cable (instead of the USB-C to USB hub, connecting the audio card via USB-B to USB-B) to connect the audio interface, since then noises have gone.
