This is for uploading to remote storage from my home network with more limited connectivity, particularly for uploading and sharing with other users so as to limit the impact on others' usage browsing while uploading.

Obviously, this would cause the upload to take longer but leave the network usable while uploading.

Can run process with either bash shell or zsh if that makes any difference.

  • if you are on Big Sur or Monterey install the "Additional Tools for Xcode 12.5" AFTER installing XCode 13 and its additional tools - this should give you a working Network Link Conditioner.prefPane which you can use to acchieve what you want. Another option via the terminal is to use* ipfw* to create a pipe and limit the bandwidth. What protocol are you using for your uploads? Which version of MacOS? Aug 2 at 16:35
