I would like to use MacOS in a Virtual Machine. All the ISO's online are sketchy af. I found some old barely functional Mac Mini's from the late 2000's/early 2010's for $50 and would like to know if I can use these dinosaurs to create a bootable ISO of the latest OS X for VirtualBox to use on my main machine (Linux Ubuntu).

If you want hardware specifics from some of them, let me know in a comment and I'll reply with some of the one's I have found.

I’m voting to close this question because it is about running macOS in a VM on non-Apple hardware. May 5 at 21:33

My dinosaur will not let me download Monterey from the App Store. Below is the message I received after clicking on the Download button. I have macOS High Sierra version 10.13.6 installed on a iMac (21.5-inch, Mid 2011).

  • PlutoniumSlime: I am currently testing to see if a can download Monterey from a virtual machine running on the iMac. Check back later to see if I post any positive results. May 5 at 22:49
