My mac just started displaying "No bootable device -- insert boot disk and press any key". Previously it was in sleep mode.

I can't boot into macOS now: using reFInd shows a legacy OS that will only get as far as the "No bootable device" screen.

I can still boot into the windows partition that was setup by bootcamp several years ago - I'm posting this question from bootcamp.

No recent changes have been made to the partitioning or boot options.

I've tried holding alt to select a boot volume but macOS isn't available as a slection.

In recovery mode the partition that was previously used for macOS is displayed as disk0s2, partition type is all "F"s

Disk repair showed no errors for the whole disk showed no errors, and repair was unavailable for the partition that held macOS.

Is there any way to repair the partition?
