I am aware of ipconfig getifaddr en0 for my private ip and curl ifconfig.me but the second one doesn't seem to be very secure and private, is there another solution to find my public ip?

Why do you think using an online service is insecure and/or a privacy problem? To get your external IP, you have to query some external service; so if you don't trust this particular service you're going to need to find a different one that you do trust. Your ISP might have a page with that info. (Querying the external address of your router might not be correct; your ISP may NAT you.)

  • Every single site you ever connect to knows your external IP address. That's the whole point - so it can reply to you. The simplest, user-friendly, zero-tech way to achieve it is to type "What's my IP address?" into Google [or any] search.

  • What do you mean by „ secure and private“? What exactly are you worried about and want to be protected against?
