I am using an external keyboard with a number pad for my MacBook Air running Mojave (10.14.6). Currently, I use a comma "," as a decimal point in Excel - I would like to remap the "." key on my number pad too ",".

I downloaded Key Codes and it shows the following: The dot on the number pad: Characters: . Unicode: 46 / 0x2e Keys: . Key Code: 65 / 0x41 Modifiers: 2097408 / 0x200100

The comma on the main keyboard which is what I'd like the above key to show: Characters: , Unicode: 44 / 0x2c Keys: , Key Code: 43 / 0x2b Modifiers: 256 / 0x100

Is there a way to remap the one key to the other? I've read about hidutil but can't seem to get it working.

Thank you

  • What hidutil command, specifically, did you try? And what was the result? Let's see if we can get someone to see if/where the mistake lies. – Allan Oct 28 '20 at 20:49
