I'm looking to upgrade my slow 2007 iMac with a new 1TB SSD and looking for recommendations on which one to get. It seems fairly easy to install, I just want to choose the right SSD. I'm in Canada so preferably one I can easily get here.

Here are the specs: https://support.apple.com/kb/SP16?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US

I see a lot of them are 2.5", I believe the HDD in it now is a 3.5", does that mean I need the adapter bracket in order to install?

Also, I have El Capitan on a boot usb, can I install it on the new blank SSD once installed in the iMac or do I need to do anything else with it first? I don't need anything off the current HDD, I can't get past the black screen anyway.

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.
