Android has Audio Focus, a feature that allows apps to request control of audio output before playing any audio. This ensures that multiple apps don't play over each other. The interrupted app could choose to pause or blur down its audio's volume.

Just wondering whether this is possible on macOS (I am using Mojave). I know that Google chrome introduced this feature but it works between chrome tabs. It would be much more convenient if this were an OS level feature.

I'd love to know whether a) it exists officially or maybe b) someone has worked on a workaround for this?
