On a MacBook Pro (15-inch, Mid 2010), macOS 10.13.6, when attempting to install Security Update 2020-002, it gets stuck at the boot screen (white background, grey Apple) "calculating time remaining." Leaving the Mac for hours results in no change.
Two ways to get back to a working Mac:
- Boot into recovery mode and reinstall macOS High Sierra
- Boot into recovery mode, open Terminal, and move aside
