My iPhone 6s and my laptop (Ubuntu 18.04) run on the same network (192.168.64.0) with subnet mask 20.

But when I'm trying to ping to my iPhone from my laptop (192.168.64.132/20 > 192.168.64.155/20): Host Is Unreachable

Also vice versa when I try to ping from my iPhone to my laptop.

Why does this happen?

Is there any built-in firewall in iOS that doesn't allow me to ping?

Is there any way to fix this problem?

  • Why do you need to ping your iPhone? Are you debugging network issues? – nohillside Dec 2 '19 at 9:36
  • I have a project at school that connect client device to FTP server, I use FTP manager on my iphone and I can't connected to my laptop (FTP server) The diagnostic said that IP unreachable – Lê Minh Quân Dec 2 '19 at 9:56
  • Why I have to use Iphone because the project said so..... – Lê Minh Quân Dec 2 '19 at 9:57

Well, if the iPhone can connect to some servers but not to your laptop I suspect the issue to be with the laptop, or it’s connectivity. – nohillside Dec 2 '19 at 10:43
