I have several hundred bookmarks on an old iPad Air running iOS 10.0.2 that used to belong to my father. The iPad is signed in to his iCloud account but all sharing options are disabled (no data is currently being uploaded to iCloud).

I want to transfer the bookmarks to my Macbook. I figure the best way to do this is to sign out of iCloud on the iPad, then sign back in using my iCloud account and sync the bookmarks.

However, I'm worried that when I sign out of iCloud on the ipad, it will delete the bookmarks on the iPad, despite the Safari sharing toggle having always been set to off.

Can anyone confirm or offer an alternative (free) way to transfer the bookmarks?

  • Why don't to toggle the Safari option on and sync the stuff to iCloud, so you have a backup. Sign off again, choose to keep the data on the phone when asked and sign out of the account see what happens then? If it fails, you have at least everything backed up in the cloud if I'm not mistaken. – needlol Nov 24 '19 at 9:03
