It is safe to delete the following directory?

/Users/me/Library/Containers/com.apple.icloud.drive.fileprovider/Data/Library/Application Support/iCloudDrive/account-XXXXXXXXXX/session/cache/unlink

It seems that this directory has huge amounts of files, and due to that my mac cannot install Catalina, which takes 17GB of disk space.

Or if deleting causes any problems, what problem is it?

Deleting iCloud system files could cause complete data loss! I don’t recommend deleting those files manually! I guess you are using iCloud Photos or documents.

If you want to free up disk space you can delete old iPhone backups via UI: Open iTunes > Preferences > Device Preferences > select a backup which is no longer required.

  • Thanks but I have no iPhone backup. I have 167GB of iCloud files but no matter I delete them for some reasons my mac storage does not change, it even starts to shrink ever more... – Blaszard Jun 18 at 21:23
  • I guess you are using iCloud photos or iCloud documents. Your question is kind of related to apple.stackexchange.com/a/331602/136834. – howdytom Jun 18 at 21:31
