So I am using the ranger terminal application, which is a vi style file browser. I've followed this tutorial to achieve image preview compatibility with the iTerm application. This works very well for me locally, however I was wondering if there was a way to use the image preview when I ssh to my ubuntu 18.04 server with x11 forwarding. I'm not too experienced with SSH and the like, so if there is a better method I would be interested to hear.

  • I installed ranger on my Debian Server and and set preview_images_method to iterm2 still on my server. When I ssh to it through iTerm2 and go to the images it renders fine. – Bruno de Sales Aug 14 at 12:06
