I am using a MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Mid 2014) and 1 TB Lenovo HDD 3.0 (Format: NTFS). I use Mounty to re-mount write-protected NTFS volumes. Some files appear greyed out as shown in the image below. I am able to delete such files and move the file to a different directory within the hard disk but when I try to copy such files I get a popup stating that the file is in use. I am suspecting this issue might be due to some malware. If anyone has encountered this and have a solution I would really appreciate it.

  • Welcome to Ask Different :) Can you open Terminal, browse to the folder containing the files (in the external HDD) and share the output of running the following command: ls -l@? – Nimesh Neema May 26 at 10:21
