I have found a strange issue that PDF encoding is changed when downloading it to Macbook.

Dowloaded pdf encoding is different from the preview mode (in the browser)

In preview mode and dowloaded pdf is visually equal. However, I don't add the text to website when it is downloaded. In preview mode, I can copy and add easily.

Text are copied from Preview mode (google chrome) and downloaded pdf in apple preview app and then paste to decode tool.

I am using Macbook air / Apple preview app

  • Do you have the same problem if you use Adobe Reader instead of Preview app? Preview is sometimes not as good at such things. – Tom Gewecke May 16 at 15:44
  • Can you clarify exactly what steps you are taking? What is that "UTF Decode!" button? What app is that in? Is it the "Decode tool"? It doesn't look to me like the encoding in the PDF file is changing , but that you are copying and pasting it into different apps that handle the encoding differently? – benwiggy May 16 at 15:46
  • @benwiggy I upload the text to website copied from preview mode in the browser. When I download the pdf to my computer, I cant add the text to website. I just use the this tool why those are different from eachother. browserling.com/tools/utf8-encode – John May 16 at 16:01
