I am working with my daughter's 80gb iPod classic (mod A1238).

The unit crashed during an update / backup.

The project is to replace the corrupted HDD (and battery while I'm at it).

I am confident I can do both of these things.

The problem is the corrupt HDD. The iPod has been manually managed and she does not have her playlists in iTunes. I do not care about the music files, I can source these elsewhere.

I have managed to partially recover the drive contents using R-Studio. The iTunesControl and iTunesDB files seem intact.

Can any one provide advice as to the best way (or any way) to read these files and extract the playlists?
