I have a MacBook Pro running Mountain Lion. I am updating to an SSD without a SATA to USB cable. , just sticking the SSD in an installing the OS. I have a recent time machine I have done some research and there are two ways to do this 1) press option+R with boot to go into recovery mode, format the SSD and internet install the OS 2) press option with boot while the time machine is plugged in and boot the recovery partition of the TM and restore the TM to the new SSD after formatting.

Which one should I do?
