Finder keeps crashing on my computer.

If I push a key to search any folder, it crashes.

I’ve re-indexed my ssd, but it’s still happening

mid-2012 MacBook Pro, macOS Sierra, 16gb ram

Also, I have a second, internal 500gb hdd

  • Is the second HDD indexed? Is it functioning properly? Can you disconnect it to see if things speed up? – Allan Feb 26 '19 at 17:34
  • The 500gb hdd (running windows) is indexed (using NTFS for Mac, and it doesn’t speed things up when disconnected. Also, it is functioning properly – Sam Feb 26 '19 at 17:35
  • time to isolate your SSD. Create a macOS install on a USB flash drive (just for testing) and boot from that. See if the issue goes away. You may also want to run AHT - Apple Hardware Test. Hold D while booting from a powered off state with the AC adapter attached. – Allan Feb 26 '19 at 17:39
  • How will I access finder from the installer (unless you’re accessing it from the import profile button in terminal)? – Sam Feb 26 '19 at 17:52
  • I have an installer thumb drive ready for when you tell me – Sam Feb 26 '19 at 17:54
