When I connect my iPhone 6S with iOS 12.1.4 to my MacBook with Mojave 10.14.3, the MacBook wants to install a software update:

After a moment trying to download the update this message appears:

The update is currently not available for several months now! I've given up hope that it'll be available in the future. Why is my MacBook trying to install a non existing software update? How to stop it?

EDIT:

iTunes version is 12.9.2.5. I don't have Xcode installed. However, I did install the command line tools with xcode-select.

  • This would be a duplicate of apple.stackexchange.com/questions/327310/… however, it would be interesting to know what version of iTunes you have installed, as the underlying issue would appear to be there, rather than Xcode. – Tetsujin Feb 24 '19 at 7:59
