When I tried to upgrade my macbook pro (early 2013 model) to macOS Mojave, it restarted within 5 mins of starting the installation and after that display was not working. I had to replace the logic board for fixing this issue.

My question is: I don't know what is the state of my hard drive now since it restarted in the middle of installation and it was in restart loop. How can I backup data from my original hard disk? Is it possible to install macOS in an external hard drive/memory card and take backup of the original hard drive? And then do a fresh installation in the original hard drive?

Any other ways to install macOS in my original hard drive without losing data?
