Due to what appear to be memory leaks in WindowServer it seems to be necessary to log in and out periodically to free up multiple GB of RAM under High Sierra. I'd like to avoid having to rebuild my GNU screen session when doing so. Unfortunately, logging in and out disconnects it from the display so it can't, for example, access the system clipboard (something I do frequently under vim).

How can I connect my screen session to the new display instance?
