The terminal of my mac is locked at starting saying "process completed" and I cannot enter any command. I tried:

  • reset the profile
  • checking the content of /private/etc/pam.d/login.term
  • installing another version of bash with homebrew and make terminal use this version (preferences -> open shell with command)
  • changing the open command with ./bin/bash -x result : Could not create a new process and open a pseudo-tty.

Any ideas?

  • Any chance you have something weird in your .profile, .bashrc, or other startup scripts that are causing bash to exit? You could edit your .profile and add set -v at the top. That might tell you something. – Joseph Larson Feb 8 at 19:39
