The Setup: MacBook pro 2018 13" without touchbar Asus 24" Screen GooBay 62113/Inateck sc01001 USB-C Adapter

When the Screen is connected through the GooBay Adapter via HDMI, the performance of programs shown on the external screen is extremely poor, reaction to clicks take a long time, especially websites in chrome, firefox and safari take forever to react. The mouse is moving at usual speeds. When the window is shown on the MacBooks screen, it is working fine.

I now tried the same setup, but I used an Inateck USB-C Adapter instead and everything is working fine.

Do you guys have any idea what might be the problem here?

  • For whatever reason the graphics chip in one adapter is more efficient than the other resulting in less CPU load. It would take some research to see what each is doing under load to give you a more granular answer – Allan Jan 22 at 13:51
  • After years of researching, purchasing and testing adapters of many types by many manufacturers, we've found that Belkin stands head and shoulders above the rest when it comes to compatibility and durability. This adapter fits the bill. Anker also makes a rather decent adapter, too. – IconDaemon Jan 22 at 15:57
