I have an early 2008 iMac with a graphics card so dead that the display is not clear enough to be able to see where the password entry box is. I would like to use a mini-DVI to DVI adaptor to connect an external monitor. Is this possible without being able to log on to the system to enable this on the main screen ?

  • The dead graphics card in the iMac would not be able to support the external monitor. If the problem is merely the internal display itself and not the graphics card, then perhaps an external display would work. – IconDaemon Jan 9 at 14:54
