Who knows an AdBlocker for the latest Safari that is able to block youtube ads. I've tried AdBlock & AdBlock Plus which both are now 'full' applications instead of extensions.

AdBlockPlus slows down your browser to the point that entering text, or clicking a link has a lag of around 1.5 ~ 2 seconds. AdBlock works for a while, and then hangs taking 600% cpu utilisation. It works again after dis&enabling it in the extension preferences. But AdBlock's biggest problem is it doesn't block that much on youtube.

I'm not here to ask how to get AdBlock or AdBlockPlus going. I'm here to ask who has an ad blocker that works for youtube.

I've used AdBlock in the past before the new extension architecture, and it blocked all youtube ads.

  • What one url might we test on what blocking YouTube ads and testing performance? Assuming the server even sends the same sort of ads to different countries and users, but let’s see if this can be made a little more objective. You might explain what a miserable failure entails with a specific version of other tools. Maybe someone can just show you settings on them to achieve your goals. – bmike Oct 27 '18 at 16:59
  • Yeah, I get it, I was ranting. Sorry about that. Edited my question Thnx. – P5ycH0 Oct 28 '18 at 7:16
  • Cool - I wanted to avoid a lot of close votes. There's provably a great question / answer too on how to measure this lag. Web apps are so complicated now with layers / JS / embedded ads right in the video stream / tracking that an "ad blocker" is really live surgery on cancer while the organism is growing and adapting and less of a "block these three things and we're done" technology. – bmike Oct 28 '18 at 14:01

"Wipr" does the Job guys. No slowdowns, no cpu hogging, and it's not able to get to your passwords & payment info. https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/wipr/id1320666476?mt=12
