I am thinking about migrating from maOS Server to a dedicated opensource RADIUS server. In their Service Migration Guide Apple states the following:

"Converting to the open source version allows continued authentication for all current users with password type RECOVERABLE. New users won’t be able to use FreeRADIUS."

What does it mean? I am currently using Open Directory for authentication, and have all my accounts set up there.

Later on there is another passage dedicated to user management:

Adding a user to freeRadius: Add new users of the radius service through the Server.app. This will require that the user’s password be stored in a less secure manner.

This means I would have to add new users through the Open Directory Service in Server App. How is this different from my current setting?
