Just upgraded to the latest Chrome for Mac (Version 69.0.3497.92 (Official Build) (64-bit), running the latest macOS High Sierra (10.13.6), and that combo seems to have lost the ability to open links in the background from Apple's Mail.app. My Desktop running plain old "Sierra" seems to have the same issue. I realize now how many time a day I do that while reading email and now that I've lost that functionality, I really miss it.

Is anyone else having this problem and, if so, have you found a workaround? It's likely a coding issue with Chrome and maybe they'll fix it, but you can never tell with the Apple/Google feud.

  • So you have 2 computers with same problem. – Ruskes Sep 15 '18 at 17:25
  • Isn't there some key you can hold down to open links in background or something...? – JBis Sep 15 '18 at 17:42
  • Yes, 2 macs, 2 slightly different OSes, same version of Chrome, same issue. The key combination no longer works (command + click) which is why I'm posting the question. – Mick Sep 15 '18 at 23:09
  • So, no love here?... No one else with the same issue? Did I not "Ask Differently" enough? ;-) – Mick Sep 17 '18 at 15:33
  • Specifically it's the "open link behind Mail" command (however it is triggered) that is no longer working. – Mick Sep 17 '18 at 15:50
