Most macOS applications (Adobe being a notable exception) implement the standard macOS Edit Menu > Emojis & Symbols command that shows a floating palette of Glyphs including Apple's Emoji set and many other glyphs divided into unicode groupings.

You can add any one of these to a "Frequently Used" tab of characters for convenient insertion into documents.✼

Where can a find the file that stores this info and is it possible to simply copy it from one Mac to another to transfer the list without trying to find all these characters again?

Some are hard to find, searching "command" for e.g. does not recover the symbol Apple uses on their Command Key.

this tab by default never comes up in initial view — that's annoying Apple, and there's no way to set it as the initial view from what I can tell
