I am trying to recover my MacOS on Mid 2015 MBP. I don't have any time machine backup.

Steps to solve this:-

  1. I used Cmd+Option+R method which goes to Internet Recovery method. It started downloading chunks but that kept on failing.

  2. I thought of making a bootable drive so Internet connection errors won't be of issue.

3.I made a bootable drive of MacOS High Sierra and then used the option key to enter the macOS recovery menu

4.Formatted my SSD to Mac OS Extended (Journaled) .

  1. Afterwards, I proceeded to the installation menu.

  2. However I keep on getting the error

The operation couldn't be completed (com.apple.osinstallersetup.LinkFileDownload error 3.)

After I press okay, I don't see my SSD in the Disk Utility anymore. Only 1 external(my bootable drive) and 2 disk images.

How do I solve this? Am I following a wrong way to recover my mac?

    What's the question here? You have a work flow that doesn't make sense: Internet Recovery that fails => make bootable drive => failed installation with "LinkFileDownload" error and an issue with D.U seeing the SSD (which has been asked/answered many time here).     When you boot your USB installer, open Terminal and issue the command diskutil list. Post the output to the original question by editing – Allan Mar 12 '18 at 18:42

    Done. After I install the OS once and it throws the error, My main SSD disappears. – harsh2301 Mar 12 '18 at 18:57

    Don't install until you delete the partition and then recreate it. See this post: apple.stackexchange.com/a/314750/119271 on how to do that. Once you do that, you should see your drive in diskutil again. – Allan Mar 12 '18 at 19:11
