I'm on a mid-2012 MBP and I've started having this issue since upgrading to High Sierra. Sometimes it'll pause the media and start back on its own or sometimes it'll just stop it completely and I'll have to physically unpause the media.

I wondered if there was some kind of phantom media control issues with High Sierra or if anyone else has seen something similar. All of my Google-fu only pulls up people having trouble with media controls trying to do everything.

  • How often is this happening? – JMY1000 Feb 1 '18 at 6:51
  • 8 out of 10 Times, probably. It feels like it’s happened more frequently as time went on – Alex Perham Feb 1 '18 at 7:29
  • Have you tried using the Keyboard Viewer to check and see if there's actually a phantom keypress happening? – JMY1000 Feb 1 '18 at 7:36
  • I have and it doesn’t show anything happening when the music stops. – Alex Perham Feb 1 '18 at 12:45
  • One of the things I did just notice is that in iTunes, the media we pause and resume (or sometimes just pause completely). In Spotify, the music will stop, the track will continue to move forward but then jump back to where the music stopped and resume. – Alex Perham Feb 1 '18 at 12:52
