May 6 at 7:22 | comment | added | mmmmmm | @BasilBourque there is no easy way to download a directory with a command line executable in any Unix as far as I can remember. If you know of a Unix that does please show an example.

Note to readers: To make symlink, sudo ln -s /wherever/you/stored/executable /usr/local/bin using ln tool.

May 5 at 20:17 | comment | added | Basil Bourque | My problem is simply this: I want to easily download a folder with a console app, execute it, and later replace it with new updated versions. I do not want to have to write scripts, create aliases, replace symlinks, or update arcane files in locations I can no longer remember just to run a newly updated console app.

VirtualBox puts short scripts in /usr/local/bin which execute binaries stored in the application.

May 5 at 0:07 | comment | added | Basil Bourque | Thanks. That was my own conclusion. It is just such a seemingly silly chore for me to have to create a new symlink in the /usr/local/bin folder every time I get an updated version of the console app.
