The short answer is that my new mouse and old keyboard are working now since I plugged in a USB dongle which uses a Qualcomm chipset instead of a Broadcom chipset like the iMac’s built in Bluetooth, but I don’t think they’re working concurrently. Instead my wireless keyboard connects to the USB a dongle and it’s driver seems to load at the FileVault login screen just fine, which solves my problem, but the problem your trying to solve sounds quite different to mine.
