Apr 22, 2020 at 14:05 comment added CodyBugstein How do you know the boot installer is faulty ? What should be expected to happen?
Apr 22, 2020 at 13:59 comment added Allan I understand that. What I'm saying is that your bootable installer is faulty. I had this exact same problem and had to redownload the OS and recreate the installer.
Apr 22, 2020 at 13:57 comment added CodyBugstein @Allan I followed the instructions in the section "Use the Bootable Installer" support.apple.com/en-ca/HT201372 . I can't make any progress there because it doesn't let me past the screen that tells me to connect to the internet. As soon as i connect, it says "connecting to Apple to verify... " and then it gives me the "A required download is missing" error
Apr 22, 2020 at 13:48 comment added Allan that's not "how to use," that's a faulty bootable installer. Try creating it again.

Apr 22, 2020 at 13:40 comment added CodyBugstein @Allan as I said, the instructions at the link don't work because it leads me to the error "A required download is missing"
Apr 22, 2020 at 13:26 comment added Allan @CodyBugstein - The very first link in your search "How to create a bootable installer" on Apple's website has a section titled "Use the bootable installer" and a link with instructions on how to select bootable media.
Apr 22, 2020 at 4:04 comment added CodyBugstein When I choose "OS X Base System", I get an error saying "Failed to Open OS X installer. The path /System/Installation/Packages/OSInstall.mpkg appears to be missing or damaged"
Apr 22, 2020 at 3:31 comment added CodyBugstein I clicked "Recovery 10.10.3". It loaded for a while, then took me right back to the recovery screen where I was stuck before
Apr 22, 2020 at 2:59 comment added CodyBugstein No... I did not know about that. Thanks. Now I get two icons; Recovery 10.10.3 and OS X Base System . Shouldnt I see my USB Bootable drive ?
Apr 22, 2020 at 2:38 comment added David Anderson You are suppose to turn on the Mac, then immediately hold down the option key until the Startup Manager icons appear. Did you do that?
