Mar 1, 2020 at 1:02 comment added Artorius Castus Much appreciated either way, @DavidAnderson , I'll just take it from the top with a fresh install of MacOS since I pushed the big red button that I wasn't supposed to, but I will wait a few hours for a miracle (not like I can make it worse).
Mar 1, 2020 at 0:55 comment added David Anderson @klanomath posted a comment to my question asking how many blocks were zero out. I think he must have assumed that none were. However, I did verify that enough were zeroed out that the answer gpt add -i 2 -b 409640 -s 1953115488 -t 7C3457EF-0000-11AA-AA11-00306543ECAC disk0 could not have worked.
Mar 1, 2020 at 0:51 comment added Artorius Castus nope, I've still got the question mark white folder showing up at startup @DavidAnderson. I got sloppy and didn't make a time machine to save my behind.

Feb 29, 2020 at 23:44 comment added Artorius Castus I took a step back, removed the partition disk0s2, and used the proper syntax that you've brought to light.
Feb 29, 2020 at 23:39 comment added Artorius Castus thats a handwritten mistake of sorts, I'll change it since i just attempted the proper command you dropped @klanomath
Feb 29, 2020 at 23:34 comment added klanomath The output of the diskutil list command (a 1000 GB APFS partition) indicates that you issued another gpt command than written in your question.
Feb 29, 2020 at 23:29 comment added Artorius Castus ah, that makes sense, I can only hope now that my mistake is not one which I cannot recover from. :V
Feb 29, 2020 at 23:21 comment added klanomath A proper command would have been gpt add -i 2 -b 409640 -s 1953115488 -t 7C3457EF-0000-11AA-AA11-00306543ECAC disk0 (without the earlier diskutil partitionDisk ... command).
Feb 29, 2020 at 23:19 comment added klanomath gpt add -i 2 -b 409640 -s 195311549 ... is wrong somehow: this creates a ~100 GB APFS partition.
Feb 29, 2020 at 23:17 comment added Artorius Castus If anyone knows where the light in al of this is, and knows of a means that I can still recover from this, without a time machine, do tell.
