what is the size of "Something" that Before doing dd command you are tryingneed to copy ?. is thisdo /Volumes/Somethingunmount $device and /dev/disk2 is on the same 32 gb drive ?sub partitions(if any). To my understanding if this /dev/disk2 is

ie, in fat32 format and whatgeneral

sudo diskutil unmount $device

this case

sudo diskutil unmount /dev/disk2
sudo diskutil unmount /dev/disk2s1
sudo diskutil unmount /dev/disk2s2

then you are trying to copy is a single file more than 4GB of size try dd command, then its not going to get copied.hopes this helps
