Instead of changing the owner you can also set a write protect flag with chflags uchg ~/Library/Preferences/ByHost/com.apple.loginwindow* .

Otherwise it will just reopen whatever windows were persisted last. 2) You might also need to change some other settings to make sure applications are not set to launch at login. | |
