There was metalwere microscopic and tiny metal bits shipped out stuck magnetically to mythe MagSafe port too!!on my laptop. I just fixed it! I made a wad of tape and made a pointy strong tape point using by making several layerspointy edges of tape, sticky side out. I went completely around the 4 sides of the port. I did not see anything there buy , sure enough, after i made a sticky tape point, the end of the tape did have some tiny metal stuck to it. I did this 3 times with 3 new tape points using several layer tape points so make the sticky point strong and not bend and tiny metal matter was stuck to it. Then, I made a sticky wad of tape the shape of the pins area and gently pressed the tape into the port and a small tiny piece of metal was stuck to the tape!!! (it was big enough to cause the cord to wobble loosely when charging!) That was the problem! Maybe I could have seen it with a magnifying glass but I never saw this metal bit in a port pin hole with my eyes and I looked many times at the connection!! Now my connection holds strongly. All the metal shavings and that small metal bit was causing the connection to hold but very weakly. I will tell you there are many posts i now see on youtube about the same problem in new macbooks. This unit is being shipped that way. I will state I have never taken this laptop off this one desk and it is in a bedroom with absolutely no metal shavings. It came this way. Many many people state they also found a small metal bit stuck magnetically to their port after purchase. I was almost about to make a trip tountil the apple storeMagSafe connector worked reliably. Thank goodness I found all the posts about the bits of metal shipped out stuck to the magnetic port!!
