Jun 13, 2022 at 19:58 comment added John Smith ext4fuse is virtually useless. It coughs up endless permissions and read errors when you try to read anything. It was zero help to me in actually getting the files off and ext4 volume.

Feb 1, 2017 at 20:46 comment added Timothy Zorn You only need to access the drive as root if you mount it outside your home directory. You can cd ~, mkdir mnt, ext4fuse /dev/diskXsY mnt, ls -la mnt without sudo/root.

Updates relating to new ext4 features which mean another package - ext4fuse - may be needed.
