Diereses prevent diphthongs; support diacritics awareness

--

Hi. My name is Daniel.

I'm mostly active on Ask Different, where I'm now a moderator◆, but I sometimes visit some other Stack Exchange sites (more to read than anything else).

I first got into computers in 1982, and learned to program on an Apple //+. Switched to Mac in 2003. I'm not a computer pro; it's just a hobby. I hope any of my questions or answers are helpful.

Amen to that. Isn't that often how it works? Can you talk in chat about this?

Public isn't shared via filesystem permissions. It is shared via a server process running on your machine. To see what changed, check "share" for a folder, then go to System Preferences » Sharing » File Sharing and see that a separate share folder in addition to ~/Public now exists.

Yes indeed. You either need to create a private network (the solution I outlined) or create an account on your machine to which your friends have the password.

Ticking, not tickling. Big difference!

You can share a folder by selecting it in the Finder, press <kbd>Command</kbd><kbd>I</kbd> (Or select Get Info), and check the box that says "Shared Folder". You will need to enable file sharing in System Preferences if you have not already done that.

You have several questions here. It would work better if each question were its own post. But let me try to take this on.

Any approximation of accurate is better than doing it all by hand.

Why post a picture of a wireless Mighty Mouse if yours is wired? A screenshot of your mouse System Preferences would be far more helpful.

Lucinda Grande, while eminently readable, is not a monospaced font, as requested. But good choices!

Or you could follow the instructions here -- someone else has already asked and answered this question, it appears.

comment How can I manipulate several security settings from terminal?
They all worked on my machine. I suspect control panel locking might be the culprit. I'll research this further.

Can you clarify what is the error message, and what triggers it? A screenshot would be helpful. Is Yahoo Messenger a program that you have set to launch when you start up your computer?

This doesn't look like a question with a right answer.

You can turn off sharing (I do), but "private"? Google has your information, and mines it for patterns they can exploit to better serve advertisements. You will be assimilated. Resistance is futile. Seriously, read the TOS before turning your data over. I find the compromises acceptable, but others may not.

Then it looks like next week Apple will be rolling out your solution. And it's free.

My thought too, but setting execute permission was step 5 in another answer, and the OP reported he tried all those steps.
